POST-ADOPTIVE RESOURCES
As you are aware, new needs can occur long after adoption is finalized! PLEASE look at all pages of resources to find the right resource to fit your needs and where your child is at!
I have looked for additional support but currently, those below are the ones I could identify! I will keep looking for more as I believe wholeheartedly that kinship/grandfamily care and support is needed throughout stages, ages 0-18, and even beyond!

The Kansas Post Adoption Resource Center provides no-cost services to:

Families who have adopted from public child welfare in Kansas

Any family who has adopted a child from any state’s child welfare system and resides in Kansas​
ADVOCACY
The Advocacy program connects you to foster/adoptive parents and other professionals who’ve been in the trenches of foster care and adoption to help address your specific concerns. Call 1-855-236-7857 to speak with one of our advocates or CLICK BELOW TO SELF REFER. Our advocates listen, educate, and plan with you what steps you can take to get the answers and solutions you need so that you are freed up to give the best possible care to your child.
KPARC FAMILY RETREATS
KPARC Family Retreat is a free, two-day relationship and parent education program that will help you remember why you wanted to be a family! Parenting is hard work. The retreat is an opportunity to have fun with other good-hearted parents like you and learn some new skills to make family life more rewarding. This FREE retreat is for parents and caregivers who have adopted children from Kansas foster care. Included are all materials, a one-night local hotel stay and food.
PEER TO PEER SUPPORT GROUPS
The Kansas Post Adoption Resource Center maintains a list of volunteers who are experienced in raising children from hard places. These trained adoptive and kinship parents are willing and eager to help new adoptive parents who call with questions or concerns.
EDUCATION & TRAINING FOR CAREGIVERS
The KPARC team offers a host of courses and groups aimed at helping you to become more confident and more trauma-informed in the way you interact with the children in your home. Some available courses include:
MATCH - Mastering Adoption Through Trauma-Informed Care & Healing
Mastering Adoption Through Trauma-Informed Care & Healing (MATCH): designed by foster, kinship, and adoptive parents specifically for families interested in, or who have already adopted from foster care. Based on trauma-informed practice and lived experience, MATCH will help families be informed and prepared for their adoption journey.
CORE TEEN
CORE Teen is a curriculum for caregivers of children ages 10 and up who have experienced trauma. This cutting training is designed to prepare caregivers to meet the unique needs of teens and add new parenting strategies.
Trauma Free World
This eight-week course bundle covers a variety of modules related to trauma—both its effects and how to deal with and heal from it. Topics include trauma’s impact on child development, the role of resilience, reducing overwhelming emotions, modifying overwhelming behaviors, supporting healthy relationships, and practicing self-care.

RESPITE
Connecting adoptive families to respite families. Respite provides a short break for adoptive families and allows caregivers an opportunity to take care of themselves without having to worry about their child.
IN-HOME THERAPY
Connecting adoptive families to therapists. Therapists can help children who have been adopted make sense of their feelings and emotional responses to challenges and developmental stages.
TFI "ASAP PROGRAM"
ASAP is an after-hours service provided to those who reside in Osage, Franklin, Miami, Coffey, Anderson, Linn, Woodson, Allen, Bourbon, Wilison, Neosho, Crawford, Montgomery, Labette, Cherokee, Pratt, Barber, Kingman, Harper, Sumner, Sedgwick, Cowley, Butler, Greenwood, and Elk counties.
